Assessment of cardiac contractility. The relation between the rate of pressure rise and ventricular pressure during isovolumic systole.

چکیده
It was considered that the relationship between dp/dt and simultaneously developed pressure during the course of isovolumic contraction might afford a more accurate measure of contractility than the maximum rate of intraventricular pressure rise (peak dp/dt). In six cat papillary muscles contracting isometrically from any given preload, the ratio of the rate of tension development (dT/dt) to simultaneously occurring isometric tension always varied directly with the contractile state. This ratio rose slightly as preload was increased, but it was not affected by changes in afterload. In 17 experiments in an intact canine heart preparation in which left ventricular end-diastolic

Effects of Short-term Renovascular Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes on Cardiac Functions in Rats
Background: The cardiac effects simultaneously occurring during experimental hypertension and diabetes have rarely been investigated. This study aimed at examining the effects of short-term renovascular hypertension and type 2 diabetes on cardiac functions. Methods: Five groups (7 each) of male Sprague-Dawley rats, including a control group, a diabetes (induced by Streptozocin and Nicotinamide)...

• The influence of heniodynamic variables on the duration of certain phases of ventricular systole has been studied by several investigators in intact animals and in isolated heart preparations.' Even in isolated hearts, it is not possible to change one heniodynainic variable without inducing changes in one or more intrinsic determinants of the heart's performance. For example, augmenting strok...

Background: Calcium channel blockers are important group of drugs that have been used in the treatment of a variety of cardiovascular diseases especially hypertension. In this study we have investigated the effects of three newly synthetized ester analogs of nifedipine (Compounds No. 1, 2 and 3) compared to nifedipine on mean arterial pressure, dp/dt (cardiac contractility index) and heart ra...

متن کاملEnd-systolic pressure as a balance between opposing effects of ejection.
Ejection has previously been thought to exert only negative effects on end-systolic left ventricular pressure, via mechanisms like shortening deactivation and the force-velocity relation. Whether ejection also exerted a positive influence on pressure generation was tested by comparing two successive beats: 1) the last beat of steady-state ejection versus 2) a totally isovolumic contraction at t...
